For those that do not know what automobile insurance fraud is, it is whereby the insured makes a claim that the insurance company may see as bogus. This may be done intentionally or non-intentionally by the insured party. There are several ways that a person taking cheap car insurance may commit vehicle insurance fraud.

One of the most common ways that people commit fraud is by staging accidents. After an accident taking place the insured may also continue damaging the vehicle, so as to increase the amount that the insurance company is going to pay in compensation. Another way that insured parties defraud insurance companies is by making false claims. These might be, making nonexistent injury claims, multiple claims for one injury or seeking compensation for an injury that occurred outside the accident.

Another way that the insured may commit vehicle insurance fraudis by making aftermarket enhancements to his car thus increasing the value of the vehicle all together. These may include things like wheel covers improved steering wheels among other enhancements. In case an accident takes place some people opt to remove the enhancements they made since the policy in most cases will only cater for the initial insured value of the vehicle and when the insurance company is servicing your compensation, the vehicle will most likely become the insurance company’s property. In the case that any enhancements or add-ons are removed the insurance may deny your claim since they will deem this as fraud and you the insured may face other consequences such as fines and even jail time.

Another way that the insured may defraud the insurance company after acquiring cheap car insurance premiums is by evading premiums. This is mainly done by giving false information such as wrong age, incorrect number of drivers and wrong traffic history.
